MooMooHQ featured!

YEAH! I'm so excited. I got a comment from one of my postings awhile back asking if their website could feature one of my amigurumi dolls. KnitHacker where they explore creations made from the world of fibers! Perhaps you have one of your own to submit? Find mine and vote! (and any other ones that you like!). They add new pictures everyday so you might have to go back a day or two to find Mr. Lee, but at the same time you get to see all these other cool creations that people have done.

Thanks so much for featuring us!

More Desserts Anyone?

(download)

Continuing with the dessert theme, cake and cookies anyone? The cake is a free pattern from the Red Heart Yarn website. My innate nature of not being able to follow patterns has resulted in a slightly different result than the original pattern. I stopped following the pattern at row 2, regardless it still turned out to look like a pie!  Add some spirals for the cookies and the whip cream and I am done! The one with the red filling is not a hamburger, but  a cookie with strawberry filling and whip cream on top.

Eat up! MooMooHQ

P.S. Amigurumi desserts look so cute! And so easy to make, too.

I am back to making "hardware". This is my own pattern and it was pretty easy to figure out as soon as I learned how to crochet cables. I got this awesome tutorial video and he has some other pretty comprehensive videos on other stitches. So I took the 2D diamond cable and transformed it into an ice cream cone. Did I overdo the  cables on the cone? Perhaps I was having too much fun with them, but I like the final results. Add some whip cream and sprinkles. Voila! Android Ice Cream.

Enjoy! MooMooHQ

P.S. I don’t even own an android phone or anything android! I just really like their logo and the system they have used to name their products, dessert names. Yum!

Booties Galore

(download)

It has been a long time since I have sat down at this computer. I find myself sitting in the living room with my Macbook instead. I can now understand why Ipads and Xoom are useful. I like doing my work for my blog on the desktop and as a result of opting not to use it; it has been awhile since I have made a post.  That does not mean that I have not been busy with crocheting! I bought this baby booty pattern from Etsy. Yes, another post about baby booties. I made two left booties, so that is why I ended up with two sets of the same booties. You are thinking, “You are following a pattern how can you end up with two left boots?” I reply, “I like to free style and wing it, so I have difficulty following patterns. I ended up with two complete sets didn’t I? haha.”

P.S. Anyone interested in purchasing the booties?

Gaa Jaat!... Gaaaa Jaaaaaat! ... Cockroach?

If you guessed Bruce Lee you are correct. I realize that the colour of the jumpsuit yellow is not as close to the real jump suit from Game of Death and also worn by Uma Thurma in Kill Bill Volume 1. The color that I used for the shoes would have made for a better jumpsuit colour, but unfortunately the gauge of the yarn is a little less than the yarn I used for the head, so I decided not to use it. The body did stand on its own without the head, but once the head was sewn on it was top heavy. I added the bangs and finished off with the black strips down the side of the limbs and body since the last post, Guess Who Woo Chaaaaa. Hope you enjoy!

P.S. My favorite part is the lips. What is yours?

Guess who.... Woo chaaaaa.... !

Yes, I realize that I have not come up with original ideas for amigurumis, but I am getting increasingly effective at looking at a picture and translating it into an amigurumi. So were you able to guess what the new character was without looking at the last picture in the slideshow? Well, the pose and clothing should give it away. I still need to put the black strips onto the side of the body suit and sew everything together. I am finding that pinning everything together really helps with positioning the limbs before sewing so I get a better idea of what the finished product will look like. Back to sewing and a new post once I have completed my new masterpiece.

Awesome! MooMooHQ

P.S. Nunchucks is a funny word.

Faux-sim

(download)

This is project that has kept me busy for the past week, since my last post . I should have posted my progress while I was working on it, but I just couldn’t tear myself away from the piece. Let me walk you through the creation and construction of Faux-sim. The head is my basic head shape, so that didn’t take long to crochet. Next came the mini skulls (a whole 5 minutes to create one, 15 minutes for the three, sewing time another 5 minutes, results – AWESOME). The shorts, not too hard, but possibly some modifications required for future versions. What stumped me for a few days were the arms and legs. The legs took me a good four tries before I could make a good shape, but once one was completed the opposite side followed shortly afterwards.

Now to add the the finsihing details to my amigurumi and transform it into a colossal testament to awesomeness! Ears, ear rings, tattoos, bracelets, wrappings for the arms and legs, and belt. Did I forget anything? Now to sew it all together – cross the legs, attach the arms, align the tattoos, sew the body onto the pants, and make my mark – whew!  He still looks decent and he will sit upright on his own. In the end I would say the results are just, AWESOME!

Midnight cat on the fly

(download)

Yes, I know it is not Halloween and I should be concentrating on ducks and bunnies for Easter, but when the creative energies are flowing you just have to embrace it and go with it. I just grabbed the yarn, hook, and the next thing I knew, I had a completed cat. The finishing touch of “scraping” the yarn to make it look fuzzy was a last minute addition. I’m not sure what the technical term for the technique is called, but I do love the results! I guess cats like to get scratched, but in my experience I’m the one who gets scratched by the cat. I will post this up at MooMooHQ store soon!

Enjoy! MooMooHQ

P.S. Add another pattern to my repertoire! Now back to my other projects.

Version 2.7 Beta

(download)
A few days ago, I wrote a blog titled, "Do you recognize this one?", this is the follow up to that recent post.

I received a request from one of my fans to do an android amigurumi doll. The first end product was not what I envisioned, so I went back and revamped the first version and came up with this new android. The reason it is version 2.7 and not 2.0 is because I took it apart at least a total of seven times before I finished it. The ledge at the neck/body area was the bane of my existence! It is still in beta version. The doll is smaller and I added a loop so it can be hung as it cannot stand on its own.

P.S. I love the antennas!

Baby booties

500_dsc01760

This was what side tracked me when I was creating the android . I was just curious as to what baby booties look like. I found this FREE pattern on the Bernat website and I even used the Bernat Satin yarn. I made the smallest size, which is for a 3 month old baby. For some reason whenever I crochet a pair of something the second item never turns out to be the same as the first. Tension is consistent, so where am I going wrong? Suggestions?  I'm giving these away as a gift. I will stick to what I know, amigurumi and I will leave the booties to the pros.
